UPDATE: The toile-y background is now gone. I found this other background that’s a bit more subdued…Better??
So, what do y’all think?
I was browsing around pre-made templates yesterday and the butterfly in this header called my name. There’s still some tweaking I need to do here – like have some buttons made so I can get my navigation back, etc. but overall I wanted something completely different than I’ve ever had. Not to mention my other design is very summery and I’m just not feeling summery anymore.
What’s the best is that Michelle at Shabby Creations only charges 10 AMERICAN DOLLARS for her pre-mades. I had some money laying around in a paypal account that just covered it so basically, to me, the makeover was free. I love me some free.
So my main question is this. What do you think about the toile-y background? I’m toying with the idea of making it all creamy like the text background so it won’t be so busy. Then I’ll add some pizazz with my buttons/headers. Truthfully, does it make your eyes hurt as-is?
Okay, I’m off…I’m waiting for your honest feedback!
Blessings!
Lisa
p.s. I’ve only removed my Bible Promise box temporarily. Apparently they are having problems causing my blog to completely lock up last night. THE Most Important Word will be returning shortly

Oh I like it! (Though in the past week I was FINALLY able to see your old design correctly.)
This is very readable!

I LOVE it! Like Joanne, I haven’t been able to read your old one properly either! I thought it was just me. :o)
Yep, I like “toile” of it!

I like it too, Lisa! Don’t change the color–I like the red!!!
You know what, I couldn’t read your old one right either. It was all wonky and your text box was about 2 inches wide. I thought it was just me, but evidently not.

I like the new look. This is very easy to read. I love toile, so what’s not to like about your new heading…the butterfly and all is really good looking.

OOOO! Love it. Kudos.
I have some wrapping paper that looks like the design on the background. It’s fabulous when tied up with a black ribbon.
I definitely think you should keep the background. You know, keeping in spirit with the wrapping paper ‘n all.

I like it, stranger, but when I try to read it on my phone, I will get only the toile with red or cream words written over it, and it will be impossible to read. I know this because Antique Mommy’s blog has a similar pattern, but in blue and I can’t read it on my phone.
So, I guess it only matters if a bunch of people are reading your blog on their phones!

Why does your twitter have just your name as a status (and why am I not on your following list?)?

I had wrapping paper like that too! It’s fun! I think your side bar text is too big though. I’m drawn to it before I’m drawn to your post.
Consider making your sidebar text black as well. Just thinking out loud with you!
It’s pretty though!

Very nice! Wow, you have 95 “followers”. Doesn’t that make you nervous. LOL!

I like the new look, but the back ground is a little much for me. I think it takes away from your blog. I want to be impressed by the boldness of your words, not the boldness of your wild wall paper. Just my personal taste.

OK my first impression was “Wow, it’s BRIGHT!” I think the background is nice, but I am wondering about muting the red just a wee bit. I love love love the header. There, you asked for HONEST. The truth is, though, all you have to do is look at the comments here already to know that you cannot “please everyone all the time”. The only one who has to totally be happy with it, is you. It’s readable. It’s not distracting. The only other thing I notice is on my PC this first post has a HUGE blank space between your last sentence and the “comments” line. In fact, I thought it was the only post on the page for a moment until I scrolled WAY down to find the comments.
Hugs.

I like it! Very fall looking and would even look well into the holiday season/early winter.
Free money well spent.

I like it. I think cream wallpaper will be too bland. The burgundy gives it some needed contrast.

Kelly @ Love Well
The background is a little busy for me. But I’m not a huge toile person. And it DOES go nicely with the header as is.
Either way, it’s a really nice new look. Nice outfit!

It looks great, Lisa-girl. I saw the “toile” this a.m., but I am not seeing it anymore…I guess you decided against it, LOL!
A new blog look makes me almost as good as a new hairstyle. :)

It’s strange how our computers allow – or don’t allow us to see things as they are. To me, I don’t see any toille – just a muted red background – and I think it’s warm and pretty. Your blog background with the flowers and spring colors didn’t show up that way on my computer until just a few weeks ago when we loosened some security on our computer.
Crazy – but a good picture of life – and how each of us views what we see through different filters. Doesn’t change the truth, but it’s harder for some to see than others. :-)

I like changing my blog picture and colors but I really want a classy background too. I don’t know if I would pay for a pre-made since I tire of my blog look so easily and want to change it again. Have looked at some free ones…. I don’t know.. (sigh)….

I absolutely LOVE it – I love the font in the header and the colors are so warm and it is VERY easy to read.
By the way, I believe that is a “Gulf Fritillary” butterfly, common in our beloved South…unlike YOU – anything but common!!! :)
